YAY for free time!

Today was our first day with all 3 of us that we didn't have to rush out the door for a meeting. Which also meant this was the first day Kannika would not be seeing a social worker at all. It actually worked out for the better. She still cries the minute we get to the hotel lobby after being out but it's not as loud or for as long. She also made another huge breakthrough today she actually played with a toy in the hotel room. She wouldn't play with me or Darryl but she took it and played on her own. She normally will go between sitting and staring at the wall refusing to look at us or just crying. We were really excited to see her playing... baby steps mean everything. She does great interacting with us outside of the hotel but in the hotel she is very stoic. She also kissed Darryl for the first time today. Yesterday she would let him kiss her and even turn her head so he could kiss both cheeks but today he asked for a kiss and she kissed his cheek! He had to ask but hey anything is better than nothing.
We visited the Dusit zoo today and it was definitely a good choice. We knew she loved animals so we were hoping she would have fun and she did. She was walking and running and laughing. She loved the snakes (eww!) and was afraid of the turtles and the frogs... weird. Also I saw the snake we saw at the park the other day... it was a viper! I am not going to be able to relax at the park ever again! Of course, if it doesn't stop raining we won't have to worry about it. She also really liked any of the bigger animals that were moving around. She found the lion boring because he was just laying there and loved the bear because he was being very active. She was a little unsure of the giraffe but I think it's because it was so big that it could come over and stick his head right above the railing. Other than that she had a few meltdowns but we expect those even if they do catch us off guard because it can be for no apparent (to us) reason. She is adjusting well and still working through some of her inner feelings.
It has been sunny and warm and humid every morning here. Then about 3-4 pm it starts pouring buckets of rain. It rains like that for about an hour to an hour and a half then slows down to a drizzle for the rest of the night. It's not good for playing outside so we have to think of other things to do that don't involve being in the hotel.
We are so thankful to God for helping us all through this transition time. I am praying for our big kids as they are missing us and are going to go through a transition time themselves when we get home.
This is a picture of Kannika completely enjoying herself at the zoo.
