Well we got a call yesterday from Thao at Holt. She was calling to let us know we only moved up to #21 this referral period. That was a little discouraging since there were 4 referrals and we only moved 1 spot. I am choosing to remember that it's just a number and since we did not put down any preferences on our forms we will hopefully get a referral sooner. I mean hey 3 people behind us got referrals this time around and the older Makayla gets the better chance we have. Even if we don't though God has His perfect timing and our baby may just not be ready yet.
This also gives us more time to save/fundraise for the travel costs. I am applying for grants now. Your prayers that we would receive at least one of them would be appreciated. We still have a lot of funds to raise but I know God is going to provide because this is His plan.

Oh, Amanda, moving up that list is so hard! It seems to take forever, and those referral months you wait on pins and needles to find out how far you've moved up...and unmet expectations can be so incredibly frustrating! I admire your attitude and your graciouis spirit and, like you said in your last post, this whole journey is a lot about letting go of control. A guy at our state fingerprinting place told me that adoptive moms are some of the most type-A people he's ever met, that they are obsessed with the details. I wanted to tell him we HAVE to be, b/c we are dealing with about 12,492 details to get our babies home, but it also made me wonder how many other adoptive moms are having to learn some of the same lessons that I am about patience, control, surrender, etc. :) Hang in there! We're praying June has a LOT of movement for you! Jen T.
